81 Impossible Your Lie in April Trivia Questions

    October 27, 2026 · 17 min read

    ← Back to blog

Most people finish Your Lie in April with a feeling, not a list of facts. Ask them what Kaori ordered at the café or which violin the competition winner gets to play, and they go quiet. The emotional scenes are so loud that the small things around them, the food, the names, the pieces on the programme, slip past.

This page is those small things. The 81 questions here are graded 8, 9 or 10 and were written from the 22 episodes themselves. A good share are about the music: composers, dedications, which arrangement Kousei's mother played. The rest are the quiet details, from the brand of milk Kousei drinks to the Peanuts characters Kaori keeps quoting.

Each answer has a note explaining the moment it comes from. Several are worth reading even if you got the question right, because they put the line back in its scene.

Spoiler warning: the last few sections cover the final episode and Kaori's letter. If you have not finished the show, stop before Episode 22.

How difficulty is graded is explained in how the question bank was built.

The five questions real players miss most

The questions above are not in matches yet. These five are. They come from the live bank, ranked by how often players got them wrong. Each player counts once, on their first attempt, and bots are left out. The samples are small, 15 to 29 players per question, so treat the exact percentages loosely.

A QuiJutsu match screen: two guest players' scores at the top, question 3 of 8 asking who Kureo Mado's partner is in Tokyo Ghoul, and four options with Koutarou Amon marked correct.
A question card from a live casual match. Both players see the question first, then the four options appear.

    1. Which rival pianist has viewed Kousei as his hero?

    1. A. Emi Igawa
    2. B. Nagi Aiza
    3. C. Takeshi Aiza
    4. D. Hiroko Seto

2 of 19 players got this right.

Show answer and why people miss it

    C. Takeshi Aiza

The trap: Nagi Aiza was picked most, then Hiroko and Emi.

This is the most-missed question we have for the show. Nagi shares Takeshi's surname, which pulls players toward the wrong Aiza. Emi also looked up to Kousei, but the question says his. Takeshi has wanted to beat his hero since they were small children, which is why he turns down Germany to face him at the Maihou.

    2. Which sport does Tsubaki play?

    1. A. Tennis
    2. B. Basketball
    3. C. Softball
    4. D. Volleyball

3 of 15 players got this right.

Show answer and why people miss it

    C. Softball

The trap: Basketball was picked more than twice as often as the right answer.

Tsubaki is clearly the sporty one, but her games stay in the background. Players remembered the personality and guessed the sport. The clue is in episode 1, when she talks about winning the Triple Crown: batting average, home runs and runs batted in.

    3. Which competition marks Kousei's return as a solo pianist?

    1. A. Towa Hall
    2. B. Eastern Japan
    3. C. Maihou
    4. D. Hamamatsu

4 of 17 players got this right.

Show answer and why people miss it

    C. Maihou

The trap: Towa Hall was picked far more often than the right answer.

Towa Hall is where Kousei first plays in public again, but as Kaori's accompanist at her violin competition. The question says solo. His first solo competition in years is the Maihou, the one Kaori signs him up for with his own wallet.

    4. Where do Kousei and Nagi perform their piano duet?

    1. A. Piano competition
    2. B. School festival
    3. C. Gala concert
    4. D. Violin competition

5 of 21 players got this right.

Show answer and why people miss it

    B. School festival

The trap: Piano competition was the most common wrong answer.

Almost everything Kousei plays in this show happens at a competition, so that is the safe guess. The duet with Nagi is the exception: it is at a school festival, with no judges and no ranking, which is part of why it feels so different from the rest of the series.

    5. At what event does Kousei first accompany Kaori publicly?

    1. A. Piano competition
    2. B. Gala concert
    3. C. Violin competition
    4. D. School festival

6 of 20 players got this right.

Show answer and why people miss it

    C. Violin competition

The trap: Piano competition tied with the right answer.

Kousei is a pianist, so players placed him at a piano competition. But the first time he plays with Kaori in public, it is her event, the violin preliminaries of the Towa Music Competition. That is the same Towa Hall that catches people out in question 3.

    How did you do?

If you got the cake Kaori picked in hospital, you have watched this more times than is healthy. If you think one of these is wrong, tell me. And if you want to play against real people, jump into a match.
